“Marcelo and I came on to try different things. I’m happy for making good use of the playing time I had and for helping Real Madrid decisively. I gradually make more use of the chances I get. I play more some times than others, but I’m happy with the victory.” “We knew of the difficulties we would face against APOEL. They’ve reached this far for a reason and have done well. This is only the first match and this isn’t over yet. We have the advantage in the tie, but we have yet to play the return leg.” “The coaching staff and the players decided that it was best not to talk after the game in Villarreal. We are gradually returning to normality.”

"Hell awaits Cristiano in Nicosia" - MARCA

MARCA - all dramatic (my translation):
“Hell awaits Cristiano Ronaldo at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia.
Here he heard for the first time “MessiMessi!” chants when he visited Cyprus with his national team on September 06, 2011 for the EURO 2012 qualifier.
Cristiano experienced one of the hottest matches and his reactions and gestures on the pitch did little to calm down the situation. Quite the contrary.
On that day he overcame the atmosphere by scoring twice. His goal celebration, holding his hand to his ear, earned him a yellow card.
So everyone expects that hell will await Cristiano tonight.

Such is the tension that even APOEL coach Ivan Jovanovic had to intervene.
In a gesture of fair play, Jovanovic told his fans to enjoy Cristiano, not to torment him:
“I attended the Cyprus-Portugal match and the treatment they gave Cristiano was the worst possible. Cypriot fans never have behaved so badly since then, and Madrid is a great club and deserves all the respect in the world.
I hope our fans will support us as always and be respectful with Ronaldo, a terrific player. “

The supporters of APOEL are undoubtedly the most hot-headed of Cyprus. The GSP Stadium has capacity for 22,500 spectators, of which nearly 10,000 are ultras.
Bengal fires are usual there and Madrid will find hell there.”

Let’s hope that football and sportsmanship will rule in Nicosia tonight and not hate and hostility.
