Reminds me of Cristiano’s first day with Real Madrid at his presentation in the Bernabéu, on July 06, 2009. Agustin waited together with nervous Cristiano in the tunnel until he was called to enter the pitch and 90.000 Madridistas welcomed him euphorically. Agustin is something like a grandpa to the players, it seems.
In this documentary, Cristiano reminiscenced: “I felt a nervousness in my stomach. Agustin, the man responsible for the locker room, was by my side. The president was speaking. The stadium was full. I felt a great joy. It is worth it to enjoy. I was sitting on the stairs, waiting for my name to be called. I spoke with Agustin. I had prepared some words to say, but when I was in the stadium, I couldn’t remember anything. The only thing I thought was: ‘don’t forget to say “Hala Madrid’ So what should I do? I will count ‘1-2-3 Hala Madrid’. The speeches continued and continued, and me waiting. I was waiting and waiting, from moment to moment more impatient. Finally I heard ‘we present Cristiano Ronaldo’ and I ran up the stairs.”
Cristiano Ronaldo talked about the 1-1 draw with Malaga in the mixed zone:
“We still have an eight point lead and there’s nothing to worry about because the league is far from over.” “Malaga are a good side, hard to play against, but we didn’t expect this result. That’s football for you.” “We were unlucky to concede the equaliser in injury time after dominating the whole match, but we’re calm about it. We suffer when we don’t score.” “The referee seemed scared to make some calls, but I don’t want to judge him because he tried to do his best.”
